On the premises of "De Halve Maan”-brewery in Bruges, there has been already brewing activity since more than 5 centuries. In 1856, it was taken over by the family Maes-Vanneste, and it is still owned by the same family. Today, this brewery is the last remaining brewery in the center of Bruges. “De Halve Maan” is located in the historical heart of Bruges, and attracts every year more than 100 000 visitors from all over the world. It is one of the leading tourist attractions of the city of Bruges, that is protected as Unesco World Heritage.
In 2005 the brewery was restarted by Managing Director Xavier Vanneste, who represents the 6th generation of the brewers family.
